Air conditioner fan capacitors usually consist of a metal foil that is folded into multiple layers and soaked in an electrolyte. When a capacitor is charged, the metal foil collects the charge, while the electrolyte blocks the flow of the charge, thus storing the charge. When a capacitor is discharged, the metal foil releases an electrical charge, which provides electricity.
